What are the signs of a gas leak?
A smell like rotten eggs, a hissing sound near gas pipes or appliances, and symptoms such as headaches, dizziness or nausea that ease when you leave the building. If you suspect a leak, leave, avoid switches and flames, turn off the gas at the meter if safe, and call 0800 111 999.
What does a yellow flame on a gas appliance mean?
A healthy gas flame is crisp and blue. A lazy yellow or orange flame can mean incomplete combustion, which can produce carbon monoxide. Stop using the appliance, make sure you have a working CO alarm, and have a Gas Safe engineer check it.
