Drain jetting in London

High-pressure water clears grease, silt and stubborn blockages.

The short answer

Drain jetting uses a high-pressure water hose with a specialist nozzle to blast through blockages and scour grease, scale and silt off the inside of the pipe. It clears blockages that rods can't shift and leaves the pipe clean, which makes it less likely to block again.

Jetting is one of the most effective ways to clear and clean a drain. High-pressure water breaks up blockages, grease and debris, then washes them away, restoring full flow.

Because it cleans the inside walls of the pipe, jetting also works as prevention, especially for commercial kitchens and properties with a history of blockages. It uses water only, so it's safe for pipes and the environment.

FAQs

Drain jetting questions, answered

Is drain jetting safe for old pipes?

Yes, when it's done properly. The pressure and nozzle are matched to the pipe's size and condition. If a CCTV survey shows a pipe is already cracked or fragile, we adjust the approach or recommend a repair first, so jetting doesn't make existing damage worse.

What is the difference between drain rodding and jetting?

Rodding pushes flexible rods through the pipe to break up or pull out a blockage. It's quick for simple blockages. Jetting uses high-pressure water to cut through the blockage and scour the whole pipe wall clean, so it's better for grease, silt and repeat problems.

How often should commercial drains be jetted?

It depends on use. Busy restaurant and hotel kitchens that produce a lot of grease often benefit from scheduled jetting as part of a maintenance plan, rather than waiting for a blockage. We can look at your drains and suggest a sensible interval.

Eljo from Urgent Plumbers London Ltd is one of, if not the most responsive tradesman I've come across - replied to queries and messages quickly without fuss, and clearly explained issues/reasoning with any work required. Always arrived when he said he would too and was happy to provide all relevant documentation (Gas Safe etc) when asked - would recommend. Quoted for boiler service/replaced our boiler when it was found to be un-serviceable.

Urgent Plumbers were fantastic when my boiler leaked. It was at the worst time possible -early on a Sunday morning when I was rushing out to work. He was so calm , turned up quickly as promised and then was so efficient at working out and fixing the problem. He was also so kind as I was terrified how much it would all cost for a Sunday emergency call out Thank you so much - you're an absolute hero
