Hot water problems in London

No hot water, lukewarm showers or temperature that won't hold steady.

The short answer

If you have no hot water, first check the boiler display for a fault code and that the pressure reads around 1 to 1.5 bar. If the boiler looks fine, the fault is likely a diverter valve, cylinder thermostat, immersion heater or airlock. A plumber can usually diagnose it in one visit.

Hot water problems range from a simple timer or thermostat setting to a failed part in the boiler, cylinder or immersion heater. We work through the system methodically so you pay for the fix, not for guesswork.

Whether you have a combi boiler, a system boiler with a cylinder, or an immersion heater, we repair, adjust or replace the faulty part and test the whole system before we leave.

FAQs

Hot water problems questions, answered

Why is my heating working but I have no hot water?

On a combi boiler this usually points to a faulty diverter valve, which switches the boiler between heating and hot water. On a system with a cylinder, check the timer and cylinder thermostat first. If both are set correctly, a motorised valve or thermostat may have failed and needs replacing.

Is no hot water an emergency?

It is if there are young children, elderly or vulnerable people in the house, or if the boiler is also showing a fault or leaking. We're available 24 hours a day, so you don't have to wait until Monday. Call us and we'll tell you when we can get to you.

Can I reset my boiler myself?

Yes. Most boilers have a reset button, and pressing it once after a fault is safe. If the fault returns, or the pressure gauge is below 1 bar, stop resetting and call an engineer. Never remove the boiler casing yourself: only a Gas Safe registered engineer should work inside it.

Eljo from Urgent Plumbers London Ltd is one of, if not the most responsive tradesman I've come across - replied to queries and messages quickly without fuss, and clearly explained issues/reasoning with any work required. Always arrived when he said he would too and was happy to provide all relevant documentation (Gas Safe etc) when asked - would recommend. Quoted for boiler service/replaced our boiler when it was found to be un-serviceable.

Urgent Plumbers were fantastic when my boiler leaked. It was at the worst time possible -early on a Sunday morning when I was rushing out to work. He was so calm , turned up quickly as promised and then was so efficient at working out and fixing the problem. He was also so kind as I was terrified how much it would all cost for a Sunday emergency call out Thank you so much - you're an absolute hero
